I've used acrylic paint to make a sort of sketch layer - it's that turquoise color that can still be seen at some parts. After that I've continued with common oil paint, using liquid that consists of 3/5 turpentine, 1/5 dammar and 1/5 flaxseed oil (not sure I got the translations correct...). This kind of working with layers is very common in Finland or at least in our school, I think... Tempera can also be used as the first layer, as in the prewious painting I posted.
I like this one as well, it is interesting that you use acrylic and oil. Do you use water soluble oil?
